Big Fifth Inning Leads Hooks Past Rockies

Hooks scored nine runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Rockies 14-4 on Saturday. Rodney McDaniel drew a walk, scoring one run, John Otterson grounded out, scoring two runs, Daniel Zamora singled, scoring one run, Coleman Gamble singled, scoring one run, and Josh Hopkins singled, scoring one run.

Hooks got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Nick Zamora singled, scoring two runs, and Zamora drew a walk, scoring one run.

Rockies jumped into the lead in the top of the fourth when Alvin doubled, scoring two runs, Darren singled, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.

The starting pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Hooks tallied 11 hits in the game. Hopkins and Zamora each collected three hits for Hooks. Zamora and Zamora each drove in two runs for Hooks. Coro collected two hits for Hooks in four at bats. Hooks had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Bermudez and Matt Bailey led the team with two bases on balls each. Zamora, Bermudez, and Hopkins each stole multiple bases for Hooks. Hooks stole nine bases in the game.

Darren, Alvin, and Jarryd each collected one hit for Rockies. Alvin drove the middle of the lineup, leading Rockies with two runs batted in. They went 1-for-2 on the day.
