Dominick Coro collected three hits in three at bats, as Hooks defeated Bulldogs 17-4 on Sunday. Coro hit an inside the park home run in the fourth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.
Hooks scored nine runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. Luis Sotomayor singled, scoring two runs, Dustin Thompson singled, scoring two runs, Rodney McDaniel grounded out, scoring one run, Nick Zamora singled, scoring one run, Daniel Zamora doubled, scoring one run, and Coro hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs.
Hooks were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored two runs.
Hooks added one run in the second after Zamora grounded out.
Hooks scored five runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. Coro singled, scoring one run, Steven Mock doubled, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, and Zamora singled, scoring two runs.
Thompson earned the win for Hooks. The right-handed pitcher gave up six hits and four runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking four. Max took the loss for Bulldogs. The starting pitcher went four and one-third innings, allowing 17 runs (six earned) on 13 hits, striking out one and walking three. Matt Bailey collected the save.
Hooks accumulated 13 hits in the game. Zamora and Coro were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Hooks. Zamora led Hooks with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. Bailey collected two hits for Hooks in four at bats.
David Poe and Justin Churinos were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Bulldogs. Churinos and Heath Weimer each collected two hits for Bulldogs.
Hooks welcome Bulldogs on Sunday for their next game.
