Mock’s Big Day Propels Hooks Past Bulldogs

Steven Mock drove in four runs on four hits to lead Hooks past Bulldogs 26-4 on Saturday. Mock singled in the first scoring one, doubled in the fifth scoring one, and singled in the sixth scoring one.

Dylan Kuester struck out 11 batters on the day. The starting pitcher also gave up five hits and four runs over seven innings while walking two.

Hooks opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to three singles. Hooks first got on the board when Mock singled, scoring one run.

Hooks added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Bulldogs committed an error, Dominick Coro grounded out, Luis Sotomayor doubled, Dustin Thompson walked, and Nick Zamora singled, each scoring one run.

Hooks scored 13 runs on eight hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Mock doubled, scoring one run, Sotomayor singled, scoring one run, Thompson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, an error scored one run, Coro singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Matt Bailey singled, scoring two runs, Josh Hopkins singled, scoring two runs, and Zamora doubled, scoring two runs.

Gabe Crites took the loss for Bulldogs. The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering 12 runs (six earned) on 11 hits, striking out three and walking six.

Hooks accumulated 22 hits in the game. Sotomayor led Hooks with five hits in six at bats. Hopkins and Mock each drove in four runs for Hooks. John Otterson, Daniel Zamora, Bailey, and Zamora each collected multiple hits for Hooks. Hooks had patience at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Thompson and Zamora led the team with two walks each. Hooks turned one double play in the game.

Jeremiah West went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Bulldogs in hits. David Poe went 1-for-3 at the plate as they led the team with one run batted in. Bulldogs turned one double play in the game.

Hooks will travel to Bulldogs for their next game on Sunday.
